| "Is this milk homogenized? Get on the ball serving wench!" Fern yelled. I turned over to see the mouse sitting on her bed waiting for a proper glass of milk. "Hey!!! He's up! Get the others nurse!" A cow dressed in a nurse's outfit ran from the room. "So, how do you feel?" Fern asked. "B..Ba" I muttered. "You don't say? I felt like that once. I guess I had alittle too much of the hair of the cow that bit me that night though. Don't worry, they'll fix you up." she said. Vance ran into the room followed by Mervin and Brophy. Mervin sat down next to me on the bed, "You know, when I was your age I was a bit younger." he said or at least that's what it sounded like to me. "Me...fa" I responded. "You keep talking like that and you'll never get another visitor here." Brophy said. "Mooo." Vance concurred. "We are all that's left right now except for the Barnwafts. Father Biff left with most of the monks for another monastery last night and Bruno went back with the gophers and a few good cows to help defend Gopherland." Mervin said. "Yeah, Spaz and Yakboy went to Bizcup to help the ferrets out." Brophy added. "Wa...tiby" I moaned. "Well, they didn't think you were ever going to get up again, so they decided to leave. Those Liver Leeched deer are still here, though the leeches jumped off and left with the mice. We don't know where the mice went, they were just gone." Mervin said. "Toop...nar" I groaned. "No, it's over for us against the desert mice. We have a life of luxury and twinkees to get back to. They're someone else's problem now." Brophy said. "And besides, you are in no condition to trade dance moves with the Boogie-Mouse again. The doc said that you would be lucky if you are able to do even the cha-cha again." Fern said. Vance winced noticeably in pain at my loss. "But then, you never did have a good cha-cha." Mervin said. "Ri ata foofoo." I said. "Oh sure, you were never great at tapping either, but at least you were respectable at it." Brophy said. Vance nodded his agreement. "Your cha-cha was by far the worst." "I wouldn't say it was the wo...hey guys, do you get the feeling that we're being watched?" Mervin asked. "Oh geez, thanks for reminding me. Aaa...readers? Yeah, the story is over now. Wasn't it everything I said it was in the beginning? Okay, you can go back to whatever you were doing before." Fern said. Mervin looked around for who Fern was talking to and, finding nothing, continued his conversation with me. "I wouldn't say it was the worst you've done, but...hey! They're still here! Fern make them go away!" the monk said appearing quite agitated. "Can't you take a hint? Go already!" Fern screamed. |
