While
John Gray may have you believe that Men are from Mars, NASA had made some
inroads into the subject and have made some shocking discoveries. Most
notable have been their findings concerning the long marveled at "Face
on Mars".
In
July 1976, the Viking Orbiter 1 took this now semi-famous picture from high
above the Martian surface. The "face" has been the subject
of much speculation by scholars and amateurs alike. However, the
images up to this point have lacked enough resolution for any conclusive
thoughts on what kind of object this may be.
That
problem seems to have been solved by the May 2001 release of pictures taken
by the Mars Global Surveyor project. As you can see, the object does
not appear to be a face at all from this raw data image, however, when the
photo is processed through specially designed enhancing technology, too
advanced to comment intelligently on, the true picture is all the more
clear.
Indeed,
though Mr. Gray's book may be partially correct in that George W. Bush is
from Mars, the same cannot be said of the rest of humanity. The
startling and unexpected discovery may leave many reeling from the impact of
the announcement, while others will find subtle comfort in the fact that
George W. is not of this world.
Even
more unnerving is the discovery that the simian-like visage is perfectly
aligned with a line-of-sight view of Florida. We have long known about
the belligerent bent of our next door neighbors though we many never know
what sinister force beams may have been aimed at Florida during the
election. It does seem to better explain George W's heretofore
inexplicable election win despite have less votes than opponent Al Gore.
Not
to be outdone, the Russian space agency released their study of yet another
portion of Mars which potentially could be more terrifying than NASA's
revelation. All we can do as Americans is thank our good capitalistic
gods that the Russian spacecraft have archaic tools to work with and will
never match our discoveries.
